Purpose

Bethesda Community and Youth Resource Center (BCYRC) is exclusively for charitable and educational purposes connected to youth, seniors, and community development.

 

The Youth.

1.Provide young people with opportunities and advice to fully accomplish their physical, intellectual, and academic potential.

2. Provide a resource center for a variety of youth and community activities.

3. Provide employment and or job counseling to prepare and train youth and community members for employment and self-development.

4. Provide youth and community with computer literacy skills and resources.

5.Provide counseling on conflict resolution, health, domestic violence, equality, immigration, and social justice.

6. Provide mentoring and leadership training for youths through a leadership program.

7. Provide skills and support mechanisms to allow youths to operate within a team to accomplish collective goals.

8. Provide opportunities to nurture an awareness of the spiritual needs of human beings. 

The Seniors.

1. Provide continuous activities for the engagement of seniors.

2. Operate a food pantry for seniors.

3. Offer classes for seniors to interact and train youth on various skills/crafts.

4. Provide opportunities for seniors to visit various programs or places of interest.

5. Provide medical and insurance personnel to keep seniors abreast of medical and insurance programs.

The Community.

1. Provide a community computer literacy lab.

2. Establish a program on new immigration rules and compliances.

3. Provide marriage and family counseling.

4. Ensure center’s accessibility to to young people with special needs/disabilities.

5. Establish after-school, Pre-K, and tutoring programs.

6. Provide English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and citizenship naturalization classes.

7. Education on gun violence, domestic, and sexual abuse.

8. Establish a dance, art, drama, and fine arts program.

9. Provide a directory of community services.
